102 Billion Mobile App Downloads with $26 Billion Market in 2013: Says Gartner

Smartphones are successful because of the applications they offer to their consumers. People are buying smartphones so that they can use all those useful applications which can make their life easy. On September 19, 2013 Gartner Inc. (Technology Company) said that the number of applications both free and paid will soar to 102 billion by the end of 2013. 

It is surprising to see that, 2012 has seen the download of 64 billion apps. It is expected that this number will reach the sky-high of 269 billion in 2017. The revenue from mobile app will be $26 billion in 2013 with comparison to $18 billion last year. This is a very good amount considering that this sum is only coming from paid application and only 9% of the total application are paid.

Google Unveiled the Name of Android 4.4 Version - It’s KitKat

Android 4.4 version is coming very soon in the market and in the surprising move, Google has announced that the new version of Android will be known as ‘KitKat’. Google said that they are keeping this name in the honor of all the KitKat bars which were consumed by the developers while working on this android version. The interesting thing is that the name keeps up with the Google tradition of naming its product after sweet treats.

As per the industry experts, Google will be using android 4.4 KitKat version on Nexus 5 and perhaps on Nexus 11 tablet. It is expected that Samsung galaxy S4, galaxy note 3, HTC one family etc. will be the first set of devices which will receive update version once Google officially release the source code. Third-party ROM are also likely to release their custom-made firmware once they get to receive the Google android 4.4 code.
